Well done Iris...... I am just revisting some of your galleries now.

Iris,
I love the clarity of your vision; it's sharp and unique. I think sometimes I might miss your humor, but there is so much to see in even the seemingly elegant simplicity of some of the pieces. The viewer knows that he or she can always find more with a closer look. I especially like the piece with the roses seen through a window. I am a sucker for color, especially shades of red and pink and this photo has so much to see in those terms. In contrast, I love the intensity of the solitary reader in black and white. Color would have only confused the image. It's poetic. Moe comments as I look again at the photos.

are you Iris Maybloom who used to teach at LA High? If so...
I have been thinking of you and your influence on me. Your message in my yearbook was not "rust, unburnished"! What a great teacher you were. I became a history major at Stanford, then went to law school. History and culture have stayed with me, always influencing me. I am at cccannady@gmail.com if you would like to reply. Cynthia Cannady class of 1968.

I was amazed and thrilled to view you photos. I think you have a great eye and I truly enjoyed seeing your work. The boy standing in fog a standout. I hope you have sent them to galleries for feed back and hopefully a show.

Iris, just viewed your pics from NYC, loved them! You do have that eye for forms in relationship to a space, and you capture images of light that really put that artistic touch to your work. Your images of the Empire State building are cleverly presented, especially the one under the bridge. Images are clear and sharp except where intended to be on the "softer side", loved them all, let's talk..........

Hi Iris: Great photos. Can't wait to see what you do with Idaho. I live in the West Central Mountains. It's really gorgeous here. Love the picture of Shanghai. If you ever get to Singapore, the architecture there is unbelievable.

Beautiful! You've captured not only the grandeur of the SW but the more inimate and storytelling moments, as well.

Dear Iris: Just finished my second look at your latest gallery and, as always, many of the photographs are OUTSTANDING. Seems that you are using more b/w and combining focus and unfocused. I like it. I think that you are at your best when you can capture textures and colors while shooting objects that other people would not necessarily find interesting,e.g., the canyon "look-alike" photo of the fallen tree in the Spring Yosemite series. Lastly, I always loved your titling of each photograph and now that you have added a short commentary to some of your work, the combination of photo(s) and script(s) is even more delightful. I look forward to all future additions to your growing and very impressive gallery on line. Marty (of the Olympic Peninsula,WA and the Catalina Foothills,AZ)

Welcome to Pbase, Iris! I know you'll love it sharing your photos with the entire world-database of photographers! I know I do. Congratulations on a really wonderful gallery too. I just browsed through shortly but will get back to look more closely. I love your style of photography! You have a keen eye for graphic shapes and details. I was so happy to meet you on the Route 66 trip! I'm signing up for the Backroads tour last weekend in March with Dave Wyman, and hope I'll see you there.

Cheers!
