Riverwalk Landing - Yorktown, Virginia

This marvelous new riverwalk is absolutely awesome! The shops and gardens are new this year (2005) and most of the riverwalk is completed. The riverwalk allows people to walk from the Visitor's Center at the Battlefield down to - and along - the riverfront which boasts beautiful new beaches and docks and old time architecture shops and gardens. The walk - when finished - will end up on the hill above at the Victory Center. It's an amazing transformation - truly mind boggling to me since I worked on the old riverfront as a Master Gardener tending buckets of flowers - and I witnessed first hand the destruction done by Hurricane Isabel to this street area and wondered if it would ever be able to recuperate from that damage. WOW!!!! Way to go, Yorktown!!! What a wonderful surprise - and a fitting way to honor this historic town!!!
