Annecy, the so-called "Venice of France", is directly south of Geneva and is close to the Alps. It's a beautiful city with a large lake and surrounded by mountains which makes it a great place for outdoor activities.
Close by to the West is "Gorges du Fier" which is a popular natural attraction where a footbridge spans a narrow gorge & river, with a cafe on site. Further to the East is Chamonix which is a town at the base of Mont Blanc which towers 4,808 m (15,774 ft) above sea level. A cable car provides access from Chamonix to Aiguille du Midi at an elevation of 3,842 m (12,605 ft) which is in the Mont Blanc massif.
As we made our way back to toward Paris for our return home, we overnighted in Senlis which is close to CDG airport. This town is famous for its 12th century "Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Senlis" which presents interesting photo opportunities.
