Panasonic Lumix FZ1 first impression

My first two days using this light and smart looking camera during my recent visit to Guangzhau, China. Just love the reach of the lens (420mm, F2.8 wiht image stablizer). All the shots (including night shot and indoor shots with no flash) were hand held. Many of the morning shots were done in less-than-ideal conditions (e.g. under shade, and/or hazy conditions). All shots were on normal setting (auto setting). Some purple (and in a few cases also green) fringing was noticeable in high contrast conditions.

Probably because of the poor light condition and my inexperiece, only 30% of the full zoom shots came out in focus. That said, I am sure the success rate will increase greatly under better light, and in better hands.

Overall speaking, just loved this camera. A perfect companion to my beloved Minolta 7i.

P.S. All photos have gone thru very little photoshop treatment (other than auto level, and/or auto contrast, and some aggressive downsizing to 72 psi for most photos). My inappropriate use of the downsizing command might have done injustice to the camera since it is clearly capable of producing much higher qulaity photos. Please see the second album on FZ1 for example. My Turkey trip also used both the FZ1 and Minolta 7i (see EXIF info of each photo for detail).
