Pond Spreadwings

               Spreadwings are damselflies. When perched, mature adult spreadwings tend to
               hold their wings partially spread instead of folded back like other damsels.

               California's Pond Spreadwings all belong to genus Lestes. Five species
               are known to occur in California -- three or possibly four in the Bay Area.
