Jumping Spider (sp?) in cardoon, margins of South SF Bay.
The prey item appears to be a small hunting wasp. These wasps zip around
the plant like flies -- this one obviously landed in the wrong place.
The family of Jumping Spiders, Salticidae, is the largest family of spiders with over 500 genera
and 5000 species. Jumping Spiders can jump 60 times or more their body length. They have
excellent vision, including UV. They are among the few spiders that can climb on glass.
