Three of the six ardeids likely to be seen in the Bay Area, left to right:
American Egret, Great Blue Heron, Snowy Egret. A Green Heron (see next)
was just out of range; I couldn't get all four together, but will keep trying.
The other two are Black-crowned Night Heron, which does not occur at Oka
Ponds, and American Bittern, a shy skulker difficult to photograph any time.
We occasionally get Little Blue Herons here, and possibly Louisiana/Little Blue hybrids.
