Sand Wasp, Bembix sp, female

This Bembicine Sand Wasp burrows in sand around the edge of a volleyball court at Blackberry Farm.

Adults feed on nectar; females capture and bury prey for their larvae.

So far I have not identified their prey, nor have I found any males yet.

Family Crabronidae, true wasps
Subfamily Bembicinae, Sand Wasps
Genus: appears to be Bembix
species TBD.

One of three species of sand wasps active at this site.
