Family Zygophyllaceae, Caltrop family; Tribulus: Puncture Vines

CalPhotos has a shot of a car tire with several fruits of this plant embedded in it, apparently
from having run over one of these vines. First collected in California in 1902; long a pernicious
weed, now controlled by introduced weevils. Toxic to livestock; fruits cause mechanical injury.
