Orchidaceae: Orchids, Coralroots

The Striped Coralroot is the most common wild orchid in the South Bay. Those shown here are from various places in Monte Bello Open Space Preserve.
Our other Coralroot, the Spotted, shows up sporadically and blooms out quickly -- the best ones I have found are from Mount Tamalpais in Marin.

The Calypso Orchids are from Marin and Sonoma counties. This species also occurs in the Bay Area.
