I share Yes, I Know!'s disappointment about the cost of digital equipment. Nevertheless, the benefits of digital photography made it worth it to me to buy a D100 and later a D80. I cannot imagine returning to the Dark Ages. Now...what do I do with those 20,000 image files on my hard drive?... :-)

Congrats, you don't have to justify a D200 to anyone!!!!! I've shot more pictures with mine in the first three months that I've had it than I did with the D70 the first six, and have probably paid the cost in saved film expenses ;o) Enjoy, I know I am. -BJ

To Yes, I know! First off my goal is to make photos. You can get into a DSLR like the D50/D70/D70s for alot less and in kit form. You could also buy a used D100 or D1H. Most of us that have the D200 have come from one of those bodies already. I still have my Nikon FA and F5, the F5 was way more than the D200 and I have had it for 8 years. DSLR's have come along way in the past 3 years and are getting better and less costly all the time. With the D200 you can use ALL your Nikon glass MF and AF!!! As for batteries just about everything needs them. Memory card's are coming way down in price $99.99 CDN for 2GB's Price out film and processing almost $20.00 a roll for this now, that's 5 rolls of film and processing for $100.00 Most of us have only 2-3 lens's that we use most of the time and have made wise decisions on what we buy. The prices keep dropping every year in this market and I don't think it will ever be a hobby for the wealthy. Come on pickup a D50 kit and start shooting!!!!...........................Mike

What's your goal: Making photos or playing with dildo ? In first case, you'r OK.
Sorry but I better like getting pleasure while shooting with a camera half the price of this one, post treatment software included and better noise reduction bonus.
Have been horrified when thinking to go from film camera to DSLR and looking to money requested for a complete set with Nikon (body + lens + spare battery + memory card + ... software !!!).
Do they consider us like money-spinners ?
Be carreful, photography is going to be a hobby for the wealthy only.
