Inside The Ace & Everett Bakers Saskatchewan

Everett Baker, an amateur photographer, was a Field Man for the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool from 1935 to 1957. He toured the province extensively documenting his travels on Kodachrome film. He created over 15,000 images that capture the social and economic lives of a land and its people. While i'm no Everett Baker some have commented over the years I may be the next best thing. I like Everett travel the province extensively, but unlike Everett I document old and almost lost Ghost towns, elevators, vehicles and buildings. I seldom ever capture the lives of people, but only what they have left behind. Yes, its history only a different kind which I think should be captured and documented. Everett's collection of 15,000 images was large for the day but my collection will be in the 10's of thousands by the time i'm to old to pack a camera all over. Many of my images capture things like this image of the Ace Hotel now only a memory as it's gone for good. I hope someday that my images will end up along side Mr Bakers.

It looks very steep! Great perspective and B&W. I will be surprised if you only have in the tens of thousands. I bet it will be more like in the hundreds of thousands. ~V~
