Then and Now - Tower Bridge

The Tower Bridge was built using funds from the New Deal, one of FDR's WPA projects.
It was begun in 1933 and finished in 1935. The bridge's color continues to be controversial.
Residents voted in 2001 to paint it gold symbolic of the gateway to the Gold Country.
However, many felt the color did not turn out to be a really "guilded" gold.
IMHO it certainly beats the freeway overcrossing.

It doesn't look quite gold but does make an impressive image.
