Actually, it is the fact that somebody in Finland was stealing them and selling them as his own, generating a couple of thousand dollars via Getty Images for himself on the back of my hard work that ended my "free" offerings.

I'm not about to drive 30000 miles a year, pay for my gas, risk snake and spider bites, sleep in the back of my pickup truck, get devoured by mosquitoes etc.... only to have some guy I've never met profit from it.

Texas is a huge state. Gas is expensive. I can't continue to allow others to profit from my work without trying to subsidize my trips across the state.

I'm sorry and I hope you guys can understand.

I'm SO sorry you've chosen to move your gallery to "Traces of Texas." As I've written you before, I can no longer make these beautiful pictures of yours part of my computers' "Background." The new site, too, will not allow me to expand the views so that I can see them in a decent size. I hate to leave your site after several years of enjoyment, but the new site is basically useless to me with the tiny pictures. PLEASE reconsider coming back to your original site - or improve the current new one so that we can enjoy your nice pictures. A fellow lover of The Lone Star State. Steve White
