Took JuJu out to the arcade the other day.
Seeing JuJu's joy and fascination with the
arcade games brought back a lot of memories.
Back in the day, my brother and I would spend
hours, and whatever few bucks we had on the games.
We'd find ways to make another twenty-five cents to get
another quarter just to get one more game.
It was always "one more game."
The video game revolution of the Eighties is something
that will always be etched in my memory, a memory of the
first fun and exciting times for a young boy living in NYC,
fascinated by the technology that was just dawning.
It was pure magic.
Now, today, as a boring adult, I really wanted to get out of the arcade,
but I couldn't. Seeing JuJu's excitement, I just had to let him
have "one more game."
Note: In my day, the arcades were packed, standing room only.
Note the empty seats above. It is a testament to how far
the home video game genre has come. Today's home games are so
amazingly complex and rich in graphic quality, that going to the
arcade to pay for play makes no sense to most people. The advancements
in the stunning quality of the home video game units is also a reminder
of how far removed "my days" at the arcade are. The days when huge pixels
flew around the screen in two delicious dimensions. Yikes, I'm old!! :-(
