Thanks for the info Mikey! I'll try again using my old kit lens and see if there is a problem with it. Maybe my 50mm f/1.8 would work too? All my equipment is 3 years old so I hope that at least one of my lenses will work. CJ

Hi CJ, I think your IR shot is suffering from "lens coating" problems. Newer lenses/coatings produce a "blown-out" center, as seen here. The less expensive/older lenses (like the 18-55mm kit lens) have a different coating that doesn't do this. Have fun with that filter. Cheers, -mikey

Here's a different pp treatment to the IR image, but this may not be the challenge for this one! :-D CJ

Never thought about infrared for this topic. Find the picture to be a bit soft... it will be nice if atleast the front tree be a bit sharper.

Thanks Bob.....I think! I know you're from Australia but I didn't think I'd need an interpreter to read your comment! ;-) 'Anisotropic' diffusion? LHS? I did use the "Steel Bar" gradient in PS Elements and Neat Image which softened the image a little as well as sharpened it. I want to play around with the original a bit more and try different PP as this is my 1st attempt at using the Hoya IR filter, but I did kinda like the effect here. :-) CJ

Good to see an IR post. This has some interesting affects CJ? Looks like 'anisotropic diffusion' effect particularly on the trees LHS.
