1939: Dublin, Ireland. Mom at her Aunt Lily's home.

Looking at this picture, one can almost sense the shadow cast by gathering war clouds that would all too soon change the lives of everyone. Her brother Bill joined the British Merchant Navy at age 17. Mom lived in London with her sister Norma and endured the terror-bombing by the Germans. Her younger siblings Clem and Thora were evacuated to the country. Her older sister, Alethea, became a military driver and was a colleague of General Eisenhower's driver, Kay Summersby.
