Thomomys bottae
It was soon evident that this pocket gopher was responsible for all the holes in the area we were camping. It would lunge out of one of the holes, quickly grab as much vegetation as it can and jump back down into the hole. As the gopher kept collecting vegetation, its cheeks started looking puffier and puffier. (Pocket gophers have two large pouches around their cheeks that they use to stash "stuff".)
