Brown-headed Cowbird & Kildeer in a heated discussion

The Cowbird is quite possibly trying to move into the Kildeer's nest, which is nearby, in order to lay at least one egg and have the Kildeer raise the chick. Cowbirds are known to lay eggs in other species and usually one egg per nest. Cowbirds have up to 36 eggs laid per per season. In the event that the other species does not comply, the Cowbird will take extreme measures by destroying the nest and eggs....

It begs the question of how the Cowbirds got that way. Evolution can take some strange twists. V

My money's on the Kildeer! Cowbirds are so strange. Wouldn't be so bad if there was an infertile bird wanting to raise a family :) An amazing capture, Jean! V~
