Nicely designed photograph. In keeping with the topic, too!
Thanks Charlie for your knowledge and information, which I find very interesting.

Oops, sorry Charlie. You get the credit for the electric response. -COAmature

No, No No!!!!! The explaination wasn't mine - heck, 4 conductors to me means overmanning on the 8.20 bus to Liverpool! But it's nice to have someone give out some expertise on the whys & wherefores. Again, thanks for the comments - A620er

Thanks for the explenation A620er but now my head is really buzzing. -COAmature

Actually, you shouldn’t feel that much buzzing here. You will note that the three phases on the left (top, middle, and bottom) and the three on the right are each comprised of four conductors held at a constant spacing by the black rings. Their purpose is to increase the effective size of the phase conductor, thus reducing the concentration of the magnetic field that surrounds the wires. This reduces the “corona losses,” the ionization of the surrounding air, which is the phenomenon that we hear as “buzzing,” when we walk under such lines. If this were in the USA, I would think the voltage level would be 765,000 volts. But I don’t know the transmission voltages used in the UK. Oh, and by the way, nice shot, A620er.

Can almost feel the buzz of electricity upon us. Nice UFO too. -COAmature

As others have said, "Well done"! I like the minimalistic feel of this. :-) CJ

Very nicely done with all the lines leading to the subject.

Reminds me of some stick figure robot carrying the cables:-) - I like the symmetry and convergence - just don't clone out the saucer! - angioman

UFOs - yes, I only noticed these after I'd posted the pic!!!!
I was trying to capture the spread of the cables, which I was pleased with; but that these emerged from the white clouds into the blue sky it turned out better than I had anticipated. Thanks - A620er
