I slept well last night and woke up very refreshed to the sounds of what promised to be a very warm summer day. The news was still full of Portugal's victory over Turkey last night. The Portuguese seem to have caught the English disease -- one victory and they have won the competition. Still, since I am supporting Portugal (as I always do when Scotland are not taking part) I will join in the celebrations and can say, on the strength of last night's game, Portugal do stand a very good chance of winning. I borrowed Silvia's car and drove over to Foz do Arelho where I went for a paddle. The beach was very busy, and I didn't have much time to make the most of it. After losing the car keys on the beach, and then finding them again 20 minutes later (much to my relief), I drove down to Obidos and inquired about vacancies at the Casa d'Obidos -- where we holidayed last October. I bought a couple of "Forca Portugal" t-shirts and then drove back to Santa Catarina to take part in Silvia's family's party celebrating her niece's confirmation. After that it was back to Lisbon, refreshed and ready for my final few days as a 44-year-old.
