The Sleeping Giant
by Marie-Louise Fitzpatrick
“Long ago, when Ireland was still on the edge of the world, there was a giant living in County Kerry. He
was large as giants go, but a friendly, happy sort of fellow.
Unfortunately, he was also rather noisy and got in the way quite a bit!‘
The Sleeping Giant tells the story of an island off the coast of Ireland which looks just like a giant sleeping in the sea. What if it is really a giant - and what if, one day, the Sleeping Giant wakes up?
The Sleeping Giant tells of the mayhem created when the giant wakes and takes a walk around County Kerry and the confused responses of the human beings. The problems are resolved by the intervention of Ann who volunteered to talk to the giant and persuaded him to go back and lie down to become an island again.
