This part of Rizal Park - named the San Lorenzo Ruiz plaza - was actually part of the beach/seaside during the Spanish colonial times. Back then
the edge of the original park was near the area where the Rizal Tomb & Monument (near the very spot where National Hero Dr. José P. Rizal
was shot by a Spanish colonial firing squad) now stands ... Anything fronting the monument right now like Roxas (formerly "Dewey")
Boulevard and this image's location is basically reclaimed land area added during the US Commonwealth 'Manifest Destiny' era ...
