MC #145:Water Reflections Living in a Puddle by Justin Miller

My backyard, Boca Raton, FL

Mini-Challenge # 145
Theme: Water Reflections
Hosted by: Simonkit
Dates: 12th May 23.00hrs until 23rd May 10.00hrs GMT

This is a shot of a reflection in a puddle on my patio deck. I was photographing the blue jays in my backyard when I noticed the mirrorlike reflection in the puddle of the bird sitting on the lamppost. The autofocus system focused accurately on the bird THROUGH the reflection...without the visible deck tiles bleeding into the shot, it is very hard to tell it's a reflection!

Thank you all for the kind comments. I was rather surprised how mirrorlike the puddle was, enough to fool the autofocus system into focusing on the bird 25 feet away even though I was pointing down into a puddle just a few feet away.

Amazing, Justin! I never would have guessed this was a reflection had I not read your comments.

Great shot - I like the way that the tiles intrude into the image - or is it the reflection that encroaches on the tiles? Nigel

And that is another WOW from me, a perfect reflection and is so good it doesn't look like one (as you said). Love the content too.
