There are only pockets of Garry Oaks left on Vancouver Island, urban sprawl and age have almost wiped them out. There is a wonderful grove of them struggling at Pipers Lagoon, Mid Island. I have photographed this one many times and it always impresses me how it continues to survive on this rocky outcropping....
