Last night we went to see the film 'Joy Division' at the Barbican. I wasn't really a Joy Division fan at the time but I've come to see the brilliance of their album 'closer'. The film was a sympathetic look at the story of the band's rise to fame and their lead singer's despair as he became epileptic and then suicidal. It all ended when Ian Curtis successfully hung himself on the eve of their first tour of the US. Watch Joy Division in all their glory here: *Joy Divison on You Tube*

Of course, it wasn't the end for the rest of the band who went on to form New Order... I was a fan of theirs!
