April 29, 2008 - Indigo Bunting

Cool and rainy again today, with highs expected in the 50's. Many people do not do this, but I feed my birds all year. In the spring, we start getting different species who come for a little added fuel. The last couple of years, these shy little fellows have made an appearance. They are extremely skittish, and I feel very fortunate to catch a shot of him. But he is a beautiful little bird.

I feed the birds year-round, too, but I have yet to see one of these at the feeder. When I'm hiking in the Shen. Nat'l Park I usually see a few. The bright blue color really catches your eye! V

I'm so glad they are here. We have had them in Normantown for the past 15 years that I know of. They seem to be increasing in numbers. I have seen several.
