I have learned through researching foxes that foxes, woodchucks and skunks will often share the same hole. This winter there was indeed, a pair of woodchucks, skunk and fox all sharing this hole. I believe there are different little burrows underground and each goes to his own "room" but they share the common entrance. About a week before Mother Fox brought her kits up from "down under" she killed one of the woodchucks and left it's body on the ground near the hole for her family to eat. This remaining woodchuck seems oblivous to danger as he/she continues to go in and out the hole he/she shares with it's mate's killer.
