Street breakfast, Varanasi, India, 2008

Three cooks prepare breakfasts of street food, the ovens below them glowing with red-hot coals. Even though it is a hot day, and the ovens throw intense heat, the cooks seem none the worse for wear. The food is largely deep-fried.

You make me look at this image in a new way, Tim. Now I can only see those iron legs, with hot coals in between them. (Dr. Freud would have a field day with this concept.)

It seems as if the sides of the ovens are like continuations of the men's legs.

You can almost smell the place here, Sun Han. And to some, that smell is delicious. Indian street food is an acquired taste.
