April 11, 2008

I picked up the anchor from Peck Lake just before sunrise on Friday. We were anchored in rather shallow water and wanted to get underway before the tide went out and made the water even more shallow. Shibumi slipped out of the anchorage before most of the northbound cruisers were awake.

The voyage to North Lake Worth in West Palm Beach was an easy one.
We had to open 7 bridges enroute. Three of the bridges opened upon request; all we had to do was call the bridge tender via VHF radio.
However the other four bridges opened on a schedule. Their schedules created an interesting speed/time puzzle that we had to solve in order to arrive at the bridges on time. The GPS helped us with the figuring; but the stiff wind and strong current made the math very interesting.

Gorgeous sunset and nice journal of your sail. All I can say here where it's only 40 degrees is wish I were there. :)

wow, life on the sea! How beautiful, yet, it appears, still not without it's pressures.

Sunset or sunrise???
Gorgeous scene either way.
Re the bridges you had to time yourself for...not all that different from you old job eh?
Gentle winds!
