This peak is the tallest point in Arizona and is a prominent view anywhere near Flagstaff (and I mean anywhere). Humphreys Peak is part of the mountain formation known as San Fransisco Peaks; this range was once a much taller peak that literally blew the top off and reduced the elevation from approximately 17,000 feet to what remains today (about 5,000 feet above Falgstaff). Note, Flagstaff is approximately 7,000 feet above sea-level.
