Mostar, Bosnia

Mostar was a truly wonderful town. The idiots who lived there destroyed it. Somebody else, the Turks, built the town for them, and they destroyed it. Now they sit around in cafes taking cheap shots at the Europeans and Americans building a new town for them. If it were up to me, Mostar would be left in ruins as a momument to the stupidity of the men who wrecked it.

There are buildings like this still standing in Mostar. Some less damaged ones are reinhabited, showing bullet and shrapnel scars.

When croats and muslims pushed out serbs away from mostar (in bosnia) it was in coordination with croatian army in croatia that were fighting serbs away from dubrovnik. And to say "we will rebuilt town even older and more beautifull" ("napravicemo grad jos stariji i lepsi") was a serbian town-mayor of Trebinje (serbian town north east of dubrovnik) after artillery bombardment in a long medieval siege of dubrovnik and when it was clear that shelling was not the result of ustasha propaganda and "burning tires" ("ustase pale gume i od toga se dize dim iznad dubrovnika")...
