This National Shrine of our Lady of Fatima in many ways has close ties with the Holy Week.
The building's architecture is shaped like a crescent moon to pay tribute to its ties with Fatima, Portugal - a former muslim
settlement before being overtaken by the christian Spanish. At the same time the structure also represents a crown of thorns.
