Look What I Found in the Middle of Nowhere!!

Amboy, California

Along the very famous Route 66 is the ghost town of Amboy, and nearby Amboy Crater, awash with spring bloom. I'm tellin' ya folks, this really is the middle of
nowhere, but worth the ride. The pink of the verbena was especially vibrant against a background of black volcanic rock, and a fragrance to make your head spin.

Though I lived in SoCal for five years and explored a lot of the desert sights, I never made it to the Amboy Crater. Looks like I missed a treat, especially with the desert abloom. Beautifully photographed, Sandi! Vote
