Ngaio, Mousehole Tree

Ngaio, or Mousehole Tree, Myoporum laetum, a tree in the family Myoporaceae, native to New Zealand.

These shrubs are established in several places along the levees of Sunnyvale WCP. They have
white flowers with purple spots and six stamens. They bloom spring through fall, attracting
a number of pollinators including butterflies, beetles and various dipterids.

In past years the WPCP crews have taken chain saws to them, although they
seem to be fairly non-aggressive and harmless. They are not widespread.
