Somehow I remember this concert being later on, like 7th grade. I remember that it was
in the Lakeshore gymnasium. During 5th grade I remember being fitted with instruments
when Mr. Ridgely came to Donges Bay, but I don't remember having a concert already that
same year. I don't even remember a band room at Donges Bay. Well, the program doesn't
lie. This apparently was an attempt to reunite the 5th grades. We eventually regrouped
during 6th grade still in the Range Line School building. I was in Miss Kroll's class
along with Mr. Wicklund and Miss Theine, who is my mother's cousin. My father listened
to Herb Alpert, considered a cross-over artist who brought jazz inspired music into the
mainstream. Having heard "Lonely Bull" before it was amazing to see classmates playing
the same quartet at the fifth grade level. That left an impression on me. I don't have
much of a recollection of the remainder of the program, which I assume was mostly a vocal
presentation. If anyone has photos of this concert it would be great to post them.
