But people in Cuba are poor, not least in rural areas. Animals are to be used, as food or for labour - and for the least amount af fodder, horses and cattle are meager. However especially cockfighting are very popular in certain areas, especially around Trinidad and Vinales. A farmer caressing his rooster while smiling means its a fighter - and a good one at that.

I had hopes to go to one of the highly popular (allthoug in principal illegal) cockfighting gatherings on sundays close to Trinidad but alas no luck.
