It's A Zoey-ful Life

Just thought we'd drop in and say hi! Its still amazing that we are getting hits every week and requests on updates and more pictures. I have decided to try and post once a month until we get to the year anniversary of us finding each other.

Zoey has settled into a pretty comfortable life. And even though she is the littlest one, she rules the roost here.

She is still being Zoey by walking on the counter (the water bottle thing seems to be a game now) and she still picks on poor Ozzy. She likes watching birds and squirrels out the window and at night she sleeps right above my head on the pillow. Right now she is curled up on my lap where she often is when I am on the computer.

We have broken the 150,000 mark for views on her gallery, it is in fact right now at 151,015.

So thanks for stopping by we'll see you soon!

You can rally see a big difference on Zoey from whe you first found her and to what she has become, a good healthy, happy cat who enjoys life! You are good people who looked after her, gave her the attention she needed and didn't ignore her the day you found her on the road. I'm pleased to see that there are people out there who cares for other living beings. Zoey is blessed to have met you and you are blessed to have met Zoey.

I just found Zoey today, and it's has been wonderful to see how far she's come. Both of my kitties are rescues, and I am overjoyed to be able to give them a second chance and provide them with 'the good life.' A note about the counter walking...our youngest also had a hard time training to squirt bottles and noises, and insisted on walking on the counters and kitchen table. For her, a snap of the fingers, a stern 'get down' as I point to the floor, and a good petting for 'listening' has actually worked. My husband expected her to learn to jump on the counter when she wants attention, but that never happened. She just doesn't jump up there anymore, and comes to us directly for her petting. Thank you for sharing your story, and I will be sure to check in often to see how beautiful Zoey is getting on.

You probably won't believe this but my family has a similar story to your's and Zoey's. My wife works as a receptionist for a vet clinic in Plover Wisconsin. A few months ago a tiny, injured, silver tabby kitten was brought in. The kitten was only about 4 or 5 weeks old and had obviously been attacked by something. Whatever had attacked her had literally chewed her back right foot completely off and also took out her right eye. Luckily the kind person who found her got her into the vet clinic quickly and she survived.

The office staff named her "Nubin" in reference to her "nub" leg. When Nubin was healthy enough to be out of the clinic my wife volunteered to foster her for a weekend. And by foster I mean she volunteered to bring her home strictly to get me to fall for the little kitten. It worked. Now Nubin is a member of the family.

She's our 5th (and hopefully final) cat. She's the third silver tabby. Most of the time she gets along with the other cats but she does antagonize our black cat quite a bit. I think it's tabby thing as the other two tabbies also harass the black cat. The fifth cat (and oldest) doesn't really do anything with the rest of the cats as he's just old and lazy now.

Anyway I wanted to let you know that our little Nubin does very well with only one eye and three feet. We didn't have to get the remainder of her eye removed as it healed up on its own (although she's blind in that eye). We were also able to leave the remainder of her leg rather than have it amputated. She keeps it up on hard flooring but will use it on the carpet and furniture. We have some of those metallic pompom balls (we call them "Dingle balls" for some reason). Nubin LOVES the things. She chases one all over the hardwood floors. And if she can't find that then she'll chase whatever she can pick up.

got three Zoeys of my own. #1 had a leg injury and was never expected to walk properly -- guess what, he roams all over the neighbourhood and OWNS it. #2 looked like an oversized rat that everyone despised. A bath , good food and care made her into a cat that was stolen by a neighbour. She returned three weeks later, emancipated with a terrible fear whenever she heard a certain voice. Cat #3 was a gnawed-up mess under my brother-in-law's car. We had said "no more" due to budget and space, but "no" wasn't really an option. He's a lot like your Ozzy by the looks of it. My wife always felt guilty to having introduced #3 to our household until she read your website. We live in Thailand where everybody cares about dogs and doesn't give a rat's about cats. Thanks! And thanks for sharing your story!

YEA!!! Another update!! She's GORGEOUS!!! Her blue eye is stunning. It's wonderful that she's done so well.

My sweet cat of nearly 18 years slept around my head like a crown as well. Wonderful memories.

Don't be surprised that you've had so many hits. It's a testiment that there actually IS some goo out there in the world. We need the reminders. You've blessed all of us and that's why we keep coming back.

Happy Spring to you!
