Stuff of Fluff

Anyone growing up around snow knows this, but some
folks from warmer areas might not realize how much
difference there can be in the nature of the snow from
different storms. Temperature plays a big role.
When it's bitter cold, snow is dry and powdery---tiny
crystals, like dust. At higher temperatures, closer to
the freezing point, crystals get larger and heavier.
Flakes clump together to make better snowballs and
snowmen...and much heavier work for shoveling sidewalks
and roads. This was a very fluffy snow with lovely big flakes.
Everything the snow covered looked as if it needed a
hair cut...or at least a good brushing. Such snow dampens
sound best, too. Total silence.

Lee. Always the party guy. Ha. It reminds me of snow cones, too.

Looks like the perfect texture for a Cherry Snow Cone. Interesting explanation for us dryed out desert dwellers. The snow in Southern California is usually man made for the sake of weekend skiers and snowboarders. Something un-romantic about playing in frozen reclaimed water that was shot out of a high pressure nozzle .

Stuff or fluff. Wow, what a wonderful and very intriguing image.
I love the fact that kept me wondering and had a beautiful peculiar aspect.
A little tinge of red_ishness is perfect. V

Oh how true is that. I am from a very very cold region , I understand exactly what you say about snow. This picture is very pretty in b&w because I can't think of any color can express that. Big V
