I then mounted a 36mm extention tube behind the macro lens, to give a closer, more magnified view -- not so dramatic. I tried focusing with Live View compared to using the viewfinder for manual focus, but couldn't see any difference, which is good news! Here are some grooves in the body of the lens, showing minute details in the body and tiny dust particles you can't see "normally", the "full sized" image followed by a "100% crop".
