One day while at Mann Lake Bill noticed a couple of old okies fishing with real snails and were knocking the Blue Twinkies out of the trout. So he ran back to his trailer and quickly tied up a few small snail patterns with peacock feathers to try out. After hitting the water and having much success he figured that it would be only right to give the old boys credit for their inspiration on the new fly pattern, so he named it "The Sweet Home Snail".
Sweet Home is a small town in Oregon Known for it's ...well, Rednecks or Okies. No offence and none taken I'm sure. ;)
