Crowned Eagle nest

Okay this just looks like a pile of sticks but it is in fact an African Crowned Eagle nest (I only had a 500mm telephoto lens with me so no wide angle shot). The nest was massive -about the size of a large double-bed! We passed near the nest on checking out a site for East Coast Akalat(-seen but no pictures).
The owners of this nest had fledged their chick earlier in the year & had recently begun to add new greenery in advance of the next breeding cycle. Below a 'feeding' tree near the nest were the remains of Duikers & a few Blue Monkey tails -testament to the power & size of these large Eagles. This pair are apparently the subject of scientific study & are quite tolerant though we did not linger (whilst I would sell my granny for the chance to photograph one of these birds I would not wish to risk ANY disturbance to these spectacular raptors).
Sokoke forest holds two (possibly three) pairs of these impressive raptors but despite their size they are very unobtrusive & difficult to find.
