One of the range-restricted Sokoke specialities. This is a small heavily streaked forest pipit which prefers the damp Afzelia forest where it feeds mainly in the leaf-litter. This is apparently only the second time this species has been photographed.
This image is of one of two birds that were working the damp leaf-litter in an area of Afzelia forest. They were watched eating spiders (this image) & snails -the latter of which they seemed to be able to prise out of their shells.
How David found these birds I will never know!
