We met a wonderful fiftyish woman at the trailhead. She told us that she had first climbed Mount Whitney when she was 47 years old, and that this was her tenth ascent! I was quite incredulous when she told us she was actually 71 years old! We bumped into her again at Trail Camp the following day - she was on her way up, we were packed up, and on our way down.
