"Is the Moon Tired?"

Beech Hill, Rockport, Maine

This image pays tribute to the lunar eclipse AND an English nursery rhyme,

"Is the Moon Tired?"
by Christina Rosetti.

"Is the moon tired? She looks so pale
Within her misty veil;
She scales the sky from east to west,
And takes no rest.
Before the coming of the night
The moon shows papery white;
Before the dawning of the day
She fades away."

This image is a response to the February 21, 2008, Thursday Totally Informal Transglobal Challenge; this week's theme is "Tired". For other "tired" images see: http://forum.pbase.com/viewtopic.php?t=36318

And hopefully, if people respond to an invitation to post, for other 2008 Lunar Eclipse photos see: http://forum.pbase.com/viewtopic.php?t=36334

To all my friends who laughed and said it couldn't be done with a little 3.2 megapixel point and shoot camera, with no tripod, and shot through a beat up old Astrocan, in -2 degrees...raspberries to you! (I love you anyway! You know I like a challenge and adventure; and it was both!). And now I have till December 2010 to keep on working on technique (perhaps I'll have a serious camera by then too!)

Very nicely captured.
I missed the eclipse because of clouds but my little point and shoot lens captured the moon a few nights before.

It's had a busy time influencing the tides. No wonder it's worn out.
Well done with 'astrocan' - whatever it is! :)
