Roscoe used to be an old school hippy back when being a hippy really meant something. What It meant, I am not really sure, but I do know that he was no poser. He since changed his ways, found Christ and regained his love for the great outdoors, fishing mainly.
I first met Ross in 1980 while fishing the banks of the Willamette River in Gladstone Oregon. He netted my first shad, we shook hands and began a friendship that lasted nearly three decades. We fished many rivers from Washington state to the costal waters of Oregon. Roscoe taught me how to fish for Salmon, steelhead, sturgeon and yes, when the fishing was slow an occasional carp.
Even though his life was recently cut short by an automobile accident, I can still hear him say "Fish On ...No Wait, Maybe...Oh Ya ...FISH ON!!!".
This photo was taken on our last fishing trip together to the Elochoman River in Washington. We started fishing the night before at around 10:pm, caught our first three steelhead each and waited till after midnight to catch our second limit. Night fishing is allowed on most rivers in this state along with two limits in possession.
You are missed, my brother from another mother.
-Eddie
