This freighter was sunk by modern pirates (thieves) that climbed one night to steal brass valves, with such bad luck that after removing some main ones on the ship's interior began to make water, next morning the Pachitea rolled over to one of it's side until present days, no one was drowned in this sea incident. To reach the Pachitea, is a 3 Km cruise from La Punta.
