She was born as Maria Anna Barbara Koob in Heppenheim, Germany, but she was raised and
educated in New York. There she became a Nun in the Order of the Sisters of St. Francis of Syracuse.
She became known as Marianne Cope of Molokai, Father's Damien trusty assistant.
