Driftwood Laocoon
by inframan

I don't often shoot driftwood but this writhing mass of roots from an old madrone
standing over 7 feet high seemed to have something otherworldly about it.

What a fascinating piece, jp! I am seeing BOTH... faces and bodies all wrapped up around each other! I love the details and the depth of varying tones. _ Kathy

Come on up, Denise & I'll show it to you. It's on the beach down from the house.

Gorgeous JP. I love shooting driftwood!! There is a huge piece in Bandon, Oregon on the beach. I have been taking pics of it for the past 20 years!!!! Keep an eye on this one. It is stunning. You did it proud.

Thanks, guys. Funny, you see faces & I see writhing bodies. I must be more disturbed...;)

A wonderful find and a beautiful capture jp! I agree with Jerry about all the faces, very interesting piece of driftwood indeed.

Mon Dieu! What a find, jp! Totally awesome. There are more faces in this than I can count... grotesque demons... dogs... cats...headless animals. This is a truly priceless find and well-photographed!

Really cool! Could you just have this piece shipped over? Superb structure and play of color levels. I also could be nice to have the subject a bit isolated from the background, I think. Maybe with a little blur.

Otherworldly and primordial. The shapes and colors are intriguing.
