Hell's Door
by Harvey Rawn

Van Nuys, California

I walk by this door every day going to our company office in a renovated warehouse building. Last week, I noticed its interesting wood patterns and photographed it. When the colors intensified in post processing, it came to look like the door to Hell.

Wow! Awesome entry! The rich tones and colors are pleasing, yet the image of flames...charred at the bottom and shooting up to the top, is slightly disturbing. Nice job!

Isn't it! I thought of him as I worked on this.

Very nice - reminds me a lot of something Martin might have done, which is a huge compliment!

Franky, I didn't go through and I think I'm glad I didn't. Thanks, Jerry.

Wow, what a fantastic catch. You could just get this door into a museum of modern art. Did you go through? ;-)

Oh my goodness, Harvey - this is excellent. And what an appropriate title! Towards the top - to the right, there appears to be two eyes (half-shut) and then a long snout. Perhaps the devil? Nonetheless, it's an awesome shot and an awesome title.

Thanks, JP. It's an old beat-up door that has had layers of wood stripped away.Hard to tell if it might be a candidate for salvage.

Sure is a beautiful door, Harvey. Has it been salvaged & refinished or is it a good find of an old beat-up specimen? Great capture in any case.
